don’t shower and smell bad, don’t tip (dealers get $5 an hour),

Oh, I don’t like that at all.

Notably absent from the list is cheating, but then I imagine they don’t mind someone ripping off the casino as long as they tip well.

That’s croupier than I expected…

I didn’t think I would have to mention this, but I have a fairly strict “no stabbing” policy.

The watching porn thing seems like it would run afoul of the “no electronic devices” rule. It would be quite possible to hide a cheating software interface into something that looks like a porn stream.

I hope the actresses are not using the algo-rhythm method.

It was briefly mentioned in the video. They point out there are cameras everywhere.

That card dealers should be considered a member of the class of jobs we tip seems like a horrible idea.

This is a role where fairness and impartiality are paramount. There shouldn’t even be the possibility of a suggestion of impropriety.

To be fair, all I want form my food servers is fair treatment…

But I don’t understand how or why casino dealers are in the “Tip” category. They don’t handle food, drive to my house, or drive me around. If they do their job well I guess I’d leave the table without any money at all. (In theory - never been to a casino.)

It comes from the “any personal service deserves a tip” philosophy. Theoretically they can be friendly instead of surly I guess, but otherwise there’s not much chance for a dealer to offer a noticeably better service than what is required to do their job. It really smells like one of those cases where tipping is encouraged because it allows the house to underpay them to save money.

I note the omission of alcohol.

Presumably because if they have good money to lose still, it is being provided regularly.

From my limited experience with casino dealers, I am about 100% sure I would become massively depressed after working that job for more than a couple of months.

Sad, angry, desperate people sitting across from you hoping against hope for the laws of mathematics to work differently just this once. All cloaked in a bogus appearance of ‘fun’ and ‘high rolling’. What an utterly bereft industry, I’d rather work in sewage treatment.

Not far off from a highway toll collector’s life really.

watch pornographic videos on their phones while playing at the table

I feel like that is good advice for literally everywhere other than the privacy of your own home or maybe like a hotel room.

I work as a dealer at a casino in Toronto that operates for just five weeks during the summer.
Aside from the abuses hurled by players (hoest to god, we don’t give a shit if you win or lose) we also have to put up with crap from pit bosses and management.
This includes but is by no means limited to favouritism, ignoring labour laws and threats but what’s truly disgusting are the chips.

Not a word of a lie - there is no indication that they’ve been cleaned, sanitised or disinfected in any way in the 20-odd years since they first started operating.
It’s so bad they actually stick together from the layers of crub that have built up over the years.
And since cleaning costs money they refuse to do it.

All this is just more fuel on my fire of not wanting to ever go near a casino in my lifetime. Sure, there might be decent people working as dealers and whatnot, but the owners and the clientele just make my skin crawl.
