I’m always struck, when I see Japanese cat videos, by how incredibly mellow their cats are. They always seem to be blissed out/stoned and more willing to interact among themselves than the US cats I’ve known. I don’t know if they’ve been bred for temperament there or if it’s a reflection of a cooperatives society vs rugged individualism expressed as a desire to remove the other cat’s eyeballs.
