Man, what a depressing way to have earned a living.

curious to know if he was a believer, or just into cashing the checks.

There are artists that have had to churn out furry porn and other fetish porn commissions in order to make rent that probably feel the same way…

All of the artists I know that churn out furry porn and other fetish porn commissions do it because it’s their thing. None of them make rent though

Lucifer: I’m so grateful for your efforts to help thousands visualise my dark realm that I’ve reserved a drafting table next to Jack Chick’s for you to continue my work…

I have to say. If I made my living churning our fetish porn, furry or otherwise, I would just think that was a funny story to tell at my grandkid’s career day (then never be asked back).

If I had enabled as much hate and, quite probably, violence, as Chick tracts, I would have alot of trouble thinking of myself as a good person. That’s a level of shame I probably couldn’t handle.

When I was a kid there was a guy in downtown Cleveland that would stand on the street corner and hand out Jack Chick comics. I’d often take one to read on the bus ride home. Although I frequently disagreed with the ridiculous messages (e.g., listening to heavy metal music would lead to eternal damnation) I enjoyed the stories and the artwork. I hope Mr. Carter felt that his artistic talent was well utilized and that he rests in peace…unlike the people who listened to heavy metal and are apparently now being jabbed with pitchforks for eternity.

TIL that the visual design for God which appears in Matt Groening’s Disenchantment was based on a Chick Tract.

" Carter was never credited on the comics and it was 9 years into their association before Chick even acknowledged him."

I’d imagine the racism thing continued. Like Jewish “convertados”, Black Christians are not always as good as White Christians and just a bit suspect.
