Off topic but this reminds me of a Chinese joke (told me by a Chinese engineer)
The United States invades China.
Chairman Mao is cautiously approached and told that there has been a battle, 200 Americans have been killed at the expense of one million Chinese.
Chairman Mao just says “very good” and goes back to reading reports.
This happens several more times and eventually someone is brave enough to ask the Chairman why he is so unworried about the outcome of the battles.
“Well,” says Mao, “Eventually they will run out of Americans.”
The difference is this:
Let’s assume that the US would have tolerated the same number of fatalities in a Chinese invasion as in Vietnam. At a 200:1 million kill ratio, about a third of the Chinese population would have died before the US gave up, while on the same numbers the Soviet Union would have been wiped out.
Hate to break it to anyone but the Psalms are very definitely Jewish. This one is by King David praising God for granting victory in battle against the enemies of the Jews.
I considered painting that in the original Hebrew on my airsoft TAR21 (can’t own real guns in Japan) but then thought if I’m gonna paint it I should put all of PS137 on there. The full version of that psalm is the prelude to the grace after meals in most any chassidic text.
