I like her cover better than the original.
This Norf Norf video (the original not white lady remix) is freakin’ excellent.
I don’t mean this in a snarky way: she should watch the video for context.
I like that she’s all “In MY DAY it was all Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and…” and I’m sitting here thinking: she’s never actually listened to the lyrics of those songs. Ever.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Side note: I’m feeling this Norf Norf cut.
The internet never goes into sleep mode.
OMG it’s sooooo good.
You oughta update the original post to include this version too.
So wrong.
So greatly, hilariously, wrong. Well done, internet.
I love that the radio edit was too rough for her sensibilities, but then she proceeds to recites the uncensored lyrics in front of her youngest kid while recording this.
From “(I Got That) Boom Boom”
She naked. She soakin’ wet. Strip tease like an hmmm, drippin’ sweat.
She got a lil body that I can’t forget. I ain’t met a young lady out did her yet.
Britney Spears and the Ying Yang Twins,
hah we done became friends. Might as well let the party begin.
If you wid it then join on in.
[Britney:]
I got that boom boom
That you want
Watching me all night long
Hurry up before it’s gone
I got that boom boom
(I got that boom boom)
That you want
I don’t think you should wait
One minute might be too late
Does she know she can…ya know…turn off the radio?
Christina’s “Get Mine Get Yours,” the chorus:
Can you put your hands on my waistline
Want your skin up against mine
Move my hips to the baseline
Let me get mine, you get yours
Hang a please don’t disturb sign
Put my back into a slow grind
Sending chills up and down my spine
Let me get mine, you get yours
Oh, she can not! What can happen though, if you don’t like Christ, is that you can just up and move to another country!
And does she also know that forbidding her 11 year old from listening to the station is probably less effective than waiting for her (or the station) to tire of the song?
No, no, it’s all profound artistry. Or something.
Like this guy, who I cannot possibly resist linking to again.
See, Nas, hip-hop isn’t dead. It was just waiting for it’s blonde age!
Still, she’s better than Macklemore.
Parents have been educating their ignorant kids about this stuff since forever. I would never have had any idea what most of the songs I listened to were about but when parents freak out you know you’re on to something.
One time around 3rd or 4th grade when we were doing some work around the house my dad kindly let me put on a tape of music I’d recorded off the radio. When The Commodore’s “Brick House” came on, I ended up getting quite a lecture. I had no idea.
