Isn’t Korea still technically going on?

D’Oh!

Yes, that one does get forgotten, along with how massive the U.S. military presence still is there.

Only 46 years to go to beat La guerre de Cent Ans! (30 if we’re not to fussy.)
Seems feasible.

If Jona Lewie’s Stop The Cavalry is a Christmas song, then so is this.

Edit:

I should really read all the comments before replying.

The Kurds don’t know what is going on either, they get on well with the US troops but feel like they are being betrayed to Turkey by the US government.

Some of the oldest Christian communities in the world are in North East Syria

I got a little behind with the Aldi Advent Calendar. I tossed the box and will play catch up tonight.

Uh ohs, Christmas is officially over and my wife is sad.

Hallmark turned off the Christmas Movies and went back to Murder She Wrote and Matlock.

Good thing I got her the mega Christmas movie collection with 30 sappy Christmas movies.

For Xmas this year, we re-watched Die Hard and ate Thai food; it was awesome.

I highly recco doing one’s own thing to avoid the stereotypical schmaltz of ‘forced cheer’ that comes with each holiday season:

That’s a great list! Krampus looks chock full of jump scares.
A few years ago we started the tradition of cooking a big pot of Gumbo for our Xmas meal.
Segues really well into the NYE stuff of greens and black-eyed peas and cornbread, if there are leftovers by then.

Last year we watched Black Christmas on Christmas Eve along with Home For The Holidays directed by Jodie Foster.

This year it was Christmas Survival and then fell asleep. Love The Coopers was also on the list.

We usually do a search for non traditional Christmas movies that still have a Christmas theme.

The wife still loves the Hallmark stuff but I’ll bet she hasn’t seen any single movie in it’s entirety because she always falls asleep.

It might be my favorite tradition we’ve made. We listen to all our New Orleans jazz CDs and records and hang around making the house smell great.
Somehow it brings a little extra warmth in what is usually a cold, dark time of year up year.
