Christmas Eve is on January 6th and Christmas Day is on January 7th if you’re an Orthodox Christian (they use the other calendar).

It is exactly right to keep the holiday thread open until everyone’s winter holidays have passed. Huzzah!

Us Catholics call it Little Christmas, Epiphany, or Three Kings Day. We’re supposed to go to church but…

In the Brazilian hinterland, people celebrate the Três Reis Magos by traveling through the countryside roads, visiting farm by farm, singing and praising the birth of Baby Jesus from the begining of December till the Epiphany day.

They don’t have The Ref on that list. It’s our Christmas tradition movie.
We watched it after torching the ham. Yes, torch, because we learned that Honeybaked Hams makes their crust by rolling the ham (already fully-cooked and spiral sliced) in sugar and spice, then using a torch to sear it into a crust.

Yeah, we’re a dual-Yule household – we’ll have Genna (Ethiopian Christmas) on the 7th – which gives me (more of) an excuse to leave the tree & lights up thru this weekend.

One time, long ago, I spent Christmas stranded on a small island off of Sicily. Locals invited me to the midnight mass. It was a magical event, and at the end of the mass, we all walked up the aisle and took turns kissing the (creepy) ancient porcelain baby Jesus doll on the cheek. One after the other.
It really was a nice experience, but thinking of that custom in reference to our current times makes me all
