Chuck Schumer compares mailbomb to Republican office window broken by thieves

No, because they are driven by a particular political party who has as a major and VOCAL part of their political agenda the end of women’s bodily autonomy. ONE party embraces that, it is a right wing political position. WOMEN ARE A PART OF THE POLITICAL MAKE UP OF THIS COUNTRY.

It’s not political if you want to change the scope of the rights people enjoy legally and to see them punished under the law (and privately).

None of those changes involve the political process or elected representatives. The laws will just change themselves.

Naturally! And everyone knows it’s only political if the leftwing does it! /s

Weird, only 56% of women identify as Democrats. It is almost as if women have diverse political views?

I was going to write something long. But it isn’t worth it.
It is all political. Everything is political. Everyone has a political ideology, ergo everything is political.

A person trying to assassinate multiple sitting US Representatives is EXACTLY the same as a drunk redneck driving up to an office building and declaring his “sovereign citizenry”. A person mailing an envelope full of weaponized anthrax is EXACTLY the same as a person mailing a really mean letter.
Al Qaeda and Y’all Qaeda, both are equally bad religious extremists./s

Why didn’t I see this earlier?

We are literally having a conversation about a right-wing political terrorist(s)?

And yet, it’s still a political issue…

Hmm…
Politically motivated
You seem to be left leaning
Does this count as a leftwing attack?
They really do happen more than you realize!!!
Which is my point. If you count every hangnail and every time someone shoved someone, it kind of dilutes the point. /s
This is getting totally off-topic though, and more in the weeds. I think that you are trying to frame my argument as some kind of defense of right-wing assholes. I am not trying to defend the Republicans.
Yes, the rightwing is dangerous as fuck.
Yes, Trump supporters are flirting with “Nazi stormtrooper” territory. His whole repeated attempt at holding rallies and then beating up protestors is almost so on the nose for a Hitler comparison that I have a hard time believing that someone DOES NOT know about it.

However, I don’t think Schumer has the political wiggle room to call out the Republicans on this one when last year a Democrat shot at a group of Republican US Representatives. That kind of move could blow up in his face. It would give the conservative media tons of ammunition to attack him for being a hypocrite. Besides, he knew Trump was going to say something divinely stupid(which he did) and he could attack Trump for his rhetoric. Schumer played the game well. This was a GOOD move. Now, the conservative media is stuck in damage control mode, trying to explain how Trump isn’t actually “victim blaming”.

Well, why not take this step further, and say my very existence is a political attack… The reality is that this is a thing that actually exists. There is a strong mythology that most academics are hardcore marxists who are indoctrinating college students to hate America and all it stands for.

BTW, I’ve actually been targeted by right wing activists (which thankfully came to nothing) for the heinous crime of assigning a book to a class. So, there’s that.

The overall point, which numerous people in this thread have provided proof of, is that the VAST majority of politically motivated acts that end in deaths of terrorism come from the right, not the left. And Schumer NEVER has traded in the sort of rhetoric that Trump and other right wing politicians have since the 1990s. And of course, since the 60s, the GOP has engaged in a campaign of racist dog whistling, which has led to the white supremacists in American backing the GOP and becoming one of the core constituencies of the party… None of this is conjecture, but historically accurate views about the current political climate.

Dude, they don’t need any ammunition, because they will and have been doing this for YEARS NOW. No matter what they democratic party does, the right will paint them as extremists. They have straight up adopted republican programs, AND THEY STILL GET CALLED SOCIALISTS!

I know. It was literally their plan. It is also how they wound up being the party of the Christian Right. Christianity and Republicanism don’t make much sense together unless you consider that a lot of Evangelical Christians are racist rednecks.

I think they caught the guy.
