That’s the most likely outcome of the whole thing: the UK retains access to the EU market and has to keep 90% of the things Brexit promised to take back, ie immigration control, product standards, and payments to the EU, and loses a lot of control by becoming a partial member who doesn’t get a vote in EU laws. In that case things will probably spring back once the outcome is set.

So THAT’S how that one ended. I only made it about a third of the way through. I like to think I have a balance international media diet, but that one just made me want to go do something else.
