Weird Al’s “style parodies” are themselves a class in understanding music so I hope there will be an emphasis on those.

This sounds like a great idea. It’d be fun to hear the students singing the lyrics as they leave the class, too.
One of my professors could bring Buffy the Vampire Slayer into any conversation about literature, from Shakespeare to Flannery O’Connor.
