Colorado cops draw guns on black man picking up trash on his own lawn

I live in Boulder. For a while, I was hopeful that our cops, at least, were cops and not pigs. Apparently not.

As a Canadian who lived in the states for a while…if a cop starts talking to me I would never perceive it as friendly. American cops are terrifying…even to upper middle class white guys.

So chill in fact that local enforcers have enough time on their hands to front 8 officers to intimidate this guy.

Well, pretty much everything else in Australia wants to kill you, spiders, salt water crocs, jellyfish, octopi, I don’t see any reason why the plant life wouldn’t want to join the party!

Thankfully they didn’t haul off and shoot the guy to death like has been so common in other news stories about cops. I couldn’t imagine being shot to death on my own property. Only in America right?

It’s pretty unreasonable to expect someone who is picking up trash on their own property to not get angry at this type of intrusion. There are too many people who are saying it’s the man’s fault, though. Apparently when your are black and a police officer comes up to you they think the proper thing is to lie face down on the ground instantly and not question a thing. That’s unreasonable to expect a white person to do and therefore it’s unreasonable to expect a black person to do it too. I hope this goes to court and goes to court in a big way.

I liked to have long hair when I was growing up and I faced the same thing. Cops are being taught to suspect ANYONE different than them. It becomes racial and worse when the other person is black.

According to the police statement, the officer, who has not been named, decided to question the black man when he saw him behind a private property sign and wondered if he was allowed to be on the property. According to the Daily Camera, the man was a student at Naropa University in Boulder, and the building on the property is listed as a school residence.

At f’n Naropa?

Yes generic police badge sticker. But I totally froze up at first, wondering why the cop was pulling up to us.
