Nestor Makhno’s birthday.
I chatted many times with a little old lady who, as a young child, met Makhno. Her father was de facto mayor of their Mennonite thorp near Kiev, and invited Makhno to dinner to negotiate a peace agreement (what with Mennonites being pacifists and all, Huldrych Zwingli’s manner of death notwithstanding). Makhno was apparently quite an imposing figure and terrified her. Her Dad and the local banker were taken away, her Dad returned unharmed. The local banker did not return.

Film version of the Kangaroo Chronicles tilogy by
Haven’t seen the film yet, but the books are great.
As Kling also wrote the screenplay and voices The Kangaroo, the film should be good.
