And this is amongst people who no longer test positive.

I know that disinformation surrounding a pandemic is inherently problematic in all forms, but I would like to request an exception: Can we get researchers to start reporting erectile dysfunction as a long term side effect? I can’t help but believe that would improve some of the cultural dysfunction that is impeding public health efforts.

Truth. I have used that particular effect to get better compliance from my teenage male diabetics. Works better than most things, I gotta say.

Been trying to resist the urge to resort to communication via T-Shirts, but that angle right there may just overcome said resistance. Something along the lines of “Covid-19 is inherently a vascular disease, and a couple very important parts of my body require a whole lot of fully functioning blood supply. I guess that’s why I’m wearing a mask and you’re not?”

Russia Eyes First Coronavirus Vaccine Launch in Mid-August

If Trump’s CDC is talking about a vaccine that might kill you and is at best 50% effective I can only imagine what they’ve got in the pipeline.

And if your Republican friends have their Putin googles on, you can casually mention that if a country creates a disease in a lab, that’d probably give them a hell of a head start on a vaccine.

“Kids need to be in school.”

Also, every time some Republican says that, why doesn’t the press jump on them about their beloved evolution-free homeschooling?

I’m case you haven’t guessed, this is another attempt to tilt fatalities back to minorities and the working class. Rich whites will stay away whatever (us!) or at least be in charter schools where their children won’t mix with those of “essential workers”.

If you don’t have a plan to shut the schools then you shouldn’t be re-opening them.

True, but I genuinely believe that ‘masculinity’ is the core driver of most PPE compliance issues, with comfort coming in a distant second. (Source: spent a decade in industrial safety education.)

Though after wearing a conventional plague mask yesterday instead of my usual respirator, I am a bit more sympathetic to the comfort complaints, especially in summer weather. Why anyone would choose that over an actual respirator, I truly do not understand.

Donnie Crossed The Line This Time

There are regularly moments when Trump does something when members of official DC think that THIS IS THE MOMENT. HE HATH VIOLATED ALL SENSETH OF DECENCY SIRRAHS. Because it is elite DC and none of them care about policy that doesn’t impact their wallets, these violations are generally about personality. OH NO HE CRITICIZED A TROOP. OH NO NOW HE HAS GONE AFTER AMERICA’S MOST BELOVED MAN, FAUCI. Threw a drink at the wrong person at a party. That kind of thing.

But even if that is the moment, what is supposed to happen? Somebody should do something. The celestial hall monitors or maybe the marshal of the Supreme Court are coming!

Nobody has infinite power but lots of people with some power are looking around the room waiting for somebody else to do something. Ah well nevertheless.

Another preliminary suggestion that herd immunity might not be possible without a vaccine.
