So we are now down 3 nurses due to Covid, still hamstrung by a hiring freeze, and have upper management sending out questionnaires asking why morale is so low and why are we losing employees. Meanwhile, the nurses still here are trying to balance having their kids doing remote schooling, working extra shifts to cover for the ones not here and maintaining some level of sanity (with varying levels of success.) Increasingly hearing rumblings about looking for new jobs. As well as refrains of âessential employee just means expendable employee.â Did I mention all the higher management folks are working from their very nice and expensive homes? Which are very much on display in the video conferences they do to improve morale?
