IIRC, they made the same argument about protesters of color. We should have other ways to ID them, like badges, body cam assignments, etc.
Let me give you a fucking lecture on âlong hours on your feet,â âstressful circumstancesâ and âhuman natureâ you unspeakable bastard.
The fact that they cover their badge numbers says it all.
-
âGone on to a better place.â
-
âGod is testing our faith.â
-
âWe are being punished for allowing gay marriage/abortion/Muslims.â

All of the above. (Cognitive dissonance no extra charge.)
Iâm not even Evangelical, and I can play this game.
How about a portrait, without protective equipment, pinned to their uniform?
yeah, for sure. but only one of those two groups are regularly violent. iâm honestly slightly surprised that cops arenât masking up for the sake of the anonymity ( minus the riot helmets which they seem more than happy to put on, and do the same thing for them. )
We should have other ways to ID them, like badges, body cam assignments, etc.
i agree, but really i think we should just have fewer cops and put them less frequently into situations where knowing who they are is important.
( ie. get them off of traffic stops and mental health calls, end stop-and-frisk, stop sending them in like an army against protestors, get guns out of their hands, etc. )
Until they get tired of that cyclical bullshit which provides no answers (like I did) or they get their hearts/spirits broken by it.
Where else do you think all those rabidly overzealous atheists come from?
Some people seem hard-wired to require absolute certainty in life.
When some people first started acting out and throwing temper tantrums about closings and restrictions involved with the pandemic, a woman wisely opined that we are âwitnessing the withdrawal symptoms from emotional addiction to the myth of certainty.â
I think someone at one point in the Uprising thread suggested sewing their names onto their uniforms in big block letters like sports jerseys.
Agreed. However, the ones we have will need to be wearing masks for the next year - maybe longer. In the meantime, we need to eliminate the loopholes and strategies they use to prevent the public from identifying them and holding them accountable for their actions. If there arenât penalties for cops who hide their badges (without good reason), turn off their cameras, or refuse to provide their information for personal reasons, there should be.
Individual masks with badge numbers emblazoned on them?
Good, but portraits make it easier to pick the officer(s) out of a lineup.
Yikes, Iâm singing a song two times from now on!
[Continues scrubbing hands vigorously with soap and water]
QR code?
Maybe their badges can have rfid tags - etc.
