State of Victoria taking small, cautious steps to get back to normality. Two cases today after six days without. No community transmission, but the problem continues to be people flying in and being quarantined in hotels. The constitution makes quarantine a federal issue but the Commonwealth government has left it all to the states because… ummm… hold on, it’ll come to me…

Brazilian government buys 20,000,000 doses of Covaxin vaccine. The problem is that several articles say that this vaccine has not yet been proven effective and the manufacturer did not even request registration of the drug in the country.

Concierge medicine, priority vaccines for clients, yup, checks out. This kind of medicine should not be a thing, IMHO. But as long as wealth=privilege, it will be.

WHO says Brazil lives ‘tragedy’ due new wave of Covid and says states try to do the right thing implementing measures of social distancing, mobility restriction and vaccination campaigns.

Mike Ryan, Chief Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, recalled that the country has been in a very long period with high rates of cases and deaths. The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - Wikipedia) stated that the Sistema Único de Saúde, publicly funded health care system, faces the most critical moment since the beginning of the pandemic.
