Hmmm, how do you wear a mask while simultaneously having a bottle to your lips 24/7?

From the article:

“If they didn’t keep my children safe before COVID, why would I think that they would now?”

Yeah, exactly.

You keep the mask doused with hard spirits and suck/inhale alcohol from it. It also kills the virus!

Ugh. I saw someone wearing one of these in the grocery store:

Drinking iced coffee, or so we assumed…it was disturbing seeing them touching the cart handles, then touching the mask, then touching the straw to put it through the hole. But at least they were looking out for the rest of us.

I couldn’t resist snarking.

Meanwhile, they were worried about the wrong kind of clots:

I’m feeling slightly optimistic today; I just got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon, so the five-week timer is now counting down. Turns out there are some advantages to turning 65! :grimacing: My wife gets her first dose on Tuesday.

I had a chat the other day with an acquaintance who said that she was not getting the vaccine. She explained that she has had allergic reactions to virtually every flu vaccination she’s tried to get over the past 15 years as well as to other vaccines, and that after thinking about it carefully she has decided not to get this one at this time. Hard to argue with her logic, given her past experiences, you know? Here’s somebody who has a bunch of significant risk factors (age, asthma, …) who made a rational decision not to get the shot, and her health is now dependent upon the behavior of a bunch of others who have essentially just flipped a coin to make their decision. It drives me crazy.

At least in my area they are being pretty careful to compare allergic reaction history of the vacinatee with the known issues for the vaccine; perhaps your friend would be safe with one of the other vaccines?

(When they asked me about allergies and I mentioned my sulfa problems, the nurse asked: “What happens when you take sulfa?” Me: “My temperature starts to shoot up rapidly and I get delirious.” Nurse: “And then what happens?” Me: “I wake up in the hospital and it is two days later.” They kept me around for observation for quite a while after the jab.)
