Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 2)

This guy, for the non-Finns, is a steroid-addled violent meathead, who was too much of an embarrassment even for our racist right-wing populist party, so they booted him from the party.

They We are fucking up things since May last year. Big time. It is partly to blame on federalism and a systematic avoidance of taking responsibility which is really ingrained in Germany.

Iā€™m friends with a number of medical people on the south side of Chicago who have been working very hard this whole time to reach the at-risk community, often by going through the churches, which has been a phenomenal success.

Like many other states, Indiana switched overnight from 50+ to 16+, and the appointment slots filled up within minutes of that going live. My daughter couldnā€™t find anything closer than about 1.5 hours away. So I said ā€œletā€™s look at Garyā€. She had her choice of date, time, whatever she wanted. Iā€™ve passed on this info to my friends who have the experience to hopefully figure out how to find the right people in Gary to do the same outreach, but itā€™s still very disheartening: the two cities are so close that many people who live in Gary work in the Chicagoland area, like a suburb rather than a city in a different state. Getting the community to understand that this time itā€™s safe and can be trusted has to be done over and over again for each specific community. And meanwhile, people die or get terribly sick.

My first Moderna shot made my arm sore for the first day, really sore the second day, and then fine after that. The husband (who got his second Moderna shot Friday, yay!) reported the same as the first time - sore arm and tiredness on day 1, really sore arm and feeling ā€œunder the weatherā€, and today heā€™s feeling fine.
I get my second shot Tuesday. I feel cheated because there was no sticker. The husband got a sticker for his first shot but not the second.

Side note - one of the kids calls the Moderna vaccine ā€œgetting Dolly chippedā€.

A friend advised me that people should get it in their dominant arm, because if your non-dominant arm is sore, youā€™ll just avoid using it, but if your dominant arm is sore youā€™ll use it anyway (and thus work the vaccine away from that area sooner, I think she was saying?) I have no idea who advised her that, thoughā€¦

Anyway I did get it in my dominant arm. It got somewhat sore at the injection site last night, and then a little achy around the shoulder area. When I went to bed I realized that thatā€™s the side that I mostly sleep onā€”duh, zfirphdn! But it didnā€™t bother my sleep, and today I have no soreness unless I press directly on the spot. Nothing else to report at this time.

Am I being cloned? Somehow that made me think of Dolly the Sheep :sheep: !

One thing Iā€™ve seen recommended is to get the first shot in your dominant arm and the second one (more likely to cause a strong reaction) in your non-dominant arm, but I can see the logic behind using the arm and thus moving the vaccine.

Our dog was only a few months old when we went into lockdown. I donā€™t know what heā€™ll make of life without us with him all day, every day. He also needs to learn how to meet people, heā€™s frightened of everyone and has never had visitors in the house.

ā€œOne Simple Trick!ā€

But it sounds like a compelling thing to add to oneā€™s arsenal:

My cat is 21. Iā€™ve had her for 11 years, and sheā€™s always been real lap kitty. The pandemic has made her so much worse, Iā€™m gonna need an escape planā€¦ :pouting_cat:

Our cat loves it too! She loves being spoiled by us all. But the dog is getting ridiculous.

OMG.
1- ā€œIā€™ll take it when white people start taking it.ā€
2- ā€œWhite people are taking it.ā€
1- ā€œMmm. You canā€™t trust white people.ā€
Comic genius. Sad, and true, and sadly true.

Just saw this today. Start planning to take your dog out of lockdown now. Not meeting and playing with other dogs is a very real thing. Iā€™m trying to change that in our boy by stopping to chat.

I think this is a worldwide trend. All countries in our region are also facing the same problems. And yet people insist to gather in bars and clandestine parties.
