Thatâs got to be bad. Not as bad as a friend of mine who canât swallow pills, but bad. In an attempt to prevent the kid from developing needle phobia, in the before-times we would try to take her to warch us have any blood draws or flu vaccines. I figured it might not work but it wonât hurt for her to see people calmly dealing with needles at a young and impressionable age.

Same. So far our kidâs a champ, although getting the flu shot last year from someone in a mask while strapped into his car seat was frightening for him.

In VA now, anyone 16 & up can get their covid vaccine. Yay!! The downside at my office is the triage nurses are being overwhelmed with calls from parents who either want to know if it is safe for their kids to get it (yes, and I am actually OK with those calls) or whose kids have gotten in âand havenât been themselves since. They are achy and whiney and tired!â Yup, thatâs the expected, normal side effects, with some understandable magnification from the normal teen drama llamas. A surprising number of parents are unwilling to accept that and are convinced that some horrible thing is happening to their child. âIf it is no better in 24-48 hours, come on inâ has become the go-to line. Nobody has shown up yet, so there is that.

Were they at least able to just switch her over to an mRNA one like they were for me? I really wanted the J&J just because it comes online quicker, but Iâll take what I can get.
