In Chicago, the homeless population was the most consistent right from the start about wearing masks religiously. They deserve the vaccine before all the tourists.
My mother, who is also a regular contact and caregiver for my four-year old niece (transplanted, immunocompromised), got vaccinated one day after her 66 birthday.
To get an appointment, we had to get a letter certificating a need for priorisation from my nieceâs pediatrician.
Doing my 15 minute wait after my second. Wife tomorrow. Big party* April 30th.
* Will not actually be big.
To boldly go home. I hope they get well.
Fred Clark, responding to David Klepperâs AP piece about covid conspiracies and the idea that more/better education is the key:
Itâs the Bad Jackie parable all over again.
Update: she has 39.3°C fever, and is feeling like kicked by a mule.
We take this as a good sign.
The immune system is working on it.
Still, in a 66 year old, such a fever is not easy. Fingers crossed.
Not at all a surprise, this was predicted as soon as the vaccines started rolling out, but it is really being played up by some as âthis proves the vaccines donât work.â They do. As the variants become dominant strains, there will be boosters for those. In probably a year, we will be lining up again.
It me.
That was my father. My mother didnât have a reaction. Sheâs on immunosuppressants, so weâre worried about how well her shot took.
From what Iâve read, people in âunderdeveloped countriesâ often have a much higher rate of antibodies for the primate adenoviruses, so these ones might actually be less efective, I think theyâd probably be better off sourcing them from Cuba (100% seriously).
Meanwhile, our AG is still suing to use our stimulus money for tax cuts.
As i understand it, this measure includes people who havenât been exposed.
The number of deaths of people over 80 years old has fallen in several capitals. Experts say that the cause of these auspicious statistics probably was the AZ and Coronavac vaccines, even with slow vaccination campaign.
That was horrifying.
âA child has a lot more diarrhoea, a lot more abdominal pain, and chest pain, than the classic Covid picture. Because there is a delay in diagnosis, when the child arrives at the hospital they are in a serious condition and can end up complicating - and dying,â she says.
My younger nephew (12 months at the time) was hospitalized and put on a drip for diahrea-caused dehydration. Most of the family had it and the pediatrician immediately had them all tested for Covid.
Nossa Senhora!
Is the baby ok now? And your family? I hope they are well too.
Yeah, this was a couple of months ago: the brother-in-law and older nephew had no symptoms, everyone else (sister-in-law, her parents, sisterâs family, etc.) all had diarrhea-type symptoms. Makes me think that thereâs a strong genetic component to how the disease expresses. They were all better within a week. Very fortunate, and also a good pediatrician to jump on it aggressively.
The brother-in-law (who got both his shots a while ago, but after getting it) and the older nephew actually just visited us.
Iâll take any and all good news!
Simple math! How does it work?
itâs also pretty telling that the above parenthetical doesnât exist for:
facebook is letting this happen.
