Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 2)

Zero sympathy for this dumbass who helped put people’s lives at danger for spreading that nonsense

Speaking of dumbasses, I hope that Pfizer sues this dumbass for defamation

I’m starting to think that putting strong arm, ultra-nationalists authoritarians into power is a bad idea… And that governments run by those types are incompetent… but that can’t be right. I mean, didn’t Mussolini make the trains run on time? /s

“I was zero [on] the vaccine. I’m still a zero,” said a woman identified as Tammy from Virginia about an hour into Sunday’s focus group.

Yes, you are Tammy. You absolutely fucking are.

Zero would be an improvement.

But how bad is that, really?

One way to look at the big-picture impact of this pandemic is to look at the excess death rates for different countries. (Including all deaths from all causes, compared against the average historic rate given the time of year.) There were substantial and obvious spikes over the last year for many countries, but the good news is that, despite ongoing issues, a number of countries in Europe are back down to their normal rate. This is interesting, presumably high-quality data provided directly by the governments of European countries, and the site was already set up well before the pandemic so you can look back and compare with bad flu seasons, etc to get a good sense of the scale of the problem. I just wish it included countries outside of Europe.

Skimmed it. Seems to be a good analysis. Might comment on it later. Would appreciate further comments from other users, especially from other European countries.

Bloody farce. There is no way we can get this under control with those measures.

Seven-day incidence is extremely high in young and medium age groups.

Parents. And children. And they decided to close schools and kindergartens at an average seven-day incidence of 165 per 100k (i.e. not accounting for age).

This is bad.

ETA: reporting is also shitty, as you will notice.

Only one state fell below the 100 theshold
Which does not matter at all, as infections per 100k inhabitants of municipalities are the trigger, for local implementation. And locally implemented and enforced it is.

Now that you mention it, me too! But I wasn’t being intentional. That’s a story you’ll tell your grandchildren!
