See, now, that’s what I thought but nope it’s really just relabled horse dewormer.

They’re not falling for facts.

It’s the label that’s effective

I get that. It’s no joke.

Does seem from the article that in that case it’s coincidence, though, and the sample size of one is definitely too small.

What lessons can we draw from this? Most importantly, Americans with authoritarian tendencies are weak.

Reminded me of this, via Pluralistic, Sep 30.

One gist of the article is that disinformation appears to be ineffective at swaying people who would otherwise be well informed, but it is effective at flushing out, and providing rallying points, for groups of the misinformed. Facebook et al. would like to you believe they are effective when used for misinformation because that makes them look like they are effective when used for misinformation’s evil-but-somehow-legitimate twin brother, advertising.

From what I’ve read, digital advertising is utterly ineffective. I’ll leave the explanation to the people who did the research work.

What a crying shame

When Chicago Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that all city employees would have to be vaccinated by Oct. 15, the head of the city’s largest police union compared it to the Holocaust.

“We’re in America, G—n it. We don’t want to be forced to do anything. Period,” FOP President John Catanzara told the Chicago Sun-Times. “This ain’t Nazi f—ing Germany, [where they say], ‘Step into the f—ing showers. The pills won’t hurt you.’” he said.

Catanzara later posted a video apologizing for the comments, which were condemned by the mayor and Jewish leaders.

Classy

There was another miraculous cure some months ago. But I don´t think nobody is talking about it anymore.

Just got off the phone with my uncle, and turns out 2 family members that work in healthcare are actually quitting their jobs rather than getting their jabs. I know we’ve all been reading about it, but it’s somehow even more befuddling and infuriating when you know them. They are not set financially. Yes, there are plenty of jobs right now, but none around here that pay as well. And they both still have young kids to think of. So effing stupid.

How do they plan on income? AFAIK, they’re not going to qualify for unemployment if they voluntarily quit.

You’re right, they won’t qualify for unemployment.
They both live with partners who are still employed, so I guess they’re just planning on scraping by until they figure something out :woman_shrugging:t2:
I’m really…, it’s just so dumb.

The SaNOtize spray is still in Phase III clinical trials. The Salvacion/National Cancer Institute spray is also promising, but hasn’t received permission for even emergency use. There are also a couple of algae based sprays, originally developed for combatting rhinovirus (by coating mucosa to form a barrier), these look promising and at least one has been approved in several countries for years.
