TL;DR…not likely, but other aid avenues might continue.

I’m friends with one of the chief organizers of exactly this type of program on the south side of Chicago. They worked with pastors to bring the vaccines to church (or outside venue, depending on the lockdown situation), to be administered immediately after after the pastor’s presentation on the subject. And they went with the pastors to home visits with parishioners who couldn’t leave their home. If a group of people don’t know if they can trust you, get introduced to them by someone they DO trust.

Good news:

TL;DR provided as thread by one of the authors:

It is expected that the immune response to the other mRNA vaccine (Moderna) would be similarly good in heterologous vaccination.

That’s great for anyone who was already vaccinated with AZ when their country pulled the plug for this vaccination for them due to safety concerns!

Nonmedical coronavirus article. Of the reasons noted, exactly none are the enhanced unemployment benefits, just FYI. Maybe if you are relying on getting women to work for starvation wages, this gave them a chance to realize you are not worth working for? That would be my take, anyway.

Very bad news, but not entirely unexpected since the Sinovac vaccine is based on an inactivated virus, and that type of vaccine has never been especially successful against coronaviruses.

“Employees will be pissed off, wondering whose fault it is that they have to wear a mask,” said Stephen Hirschfeld, a San Francisco employment lawyer, speaking before the meeting. “This could set up a situation where they try to figure out who is unvaccinated and give them a hard time.”

Damn straight!

I have one severely allergic relative who can’t be vaccinated, and hopefully not many workers fall into that category. It would be even better if employers found a way to allow people with that issue to work remotely, but not in a way that prevents the option from being extended to everyone. Otherwise, that could also result in a divisive or hostile workplace environment.

They want us back in the office. Not because we aren’t more productive at home (I went in today and I always forget how much time I spend walking from one end of the office to the other. At least I get my steps) or that they can’t trust us, or that they actually need us or want to see us. The research is in for decades that saner work weeks are more productive. They want us there where they control us because capitalism is actually totalitarian. They want to control everything about our lives.

That and narcissistic managers crave constant interaction from disinterested and too busy workers. WFH means they can’t get their fix of undivided attention.
