I saw so much of this up until omicron hit us, some people saying they won’t be getting any booster shots having no idea what would be around the corner and the UK gov’s back slapping of a successful vaccine roll-out when so much of the world remains unvaccinated. Circuit breaker lockdown in the new year? Sure, but again it’ll be far too late and so it goes on.
The speculation about where omicron may have mutated from blew my mind.
Sounds like what I used to do when the bosses wanted me to come to work despite hazardous conditions. I called out sick as in, “I’m sick of management not giving a damn about their employees.”
In Even Cowgirls get the Blues, the heroine calls in well. Something to the effect of “I feel great and will not be coming into work.” I’ve wanted to try that for some time now.
While more than 85% of the Dutch adult population is vaccinated, fewer than 9% of adults have had a booster shot, one of the lowest rates in Europe.
Meanwhile:
Fuck this.
On a personal note: I agreed to visit the family weeks ago. This means seeing about 9 adults plus four kids on the 24th, 2 additional adults on the 25th, and on the 26th most of the people (minus three, but about plus three) we met on the 24th.
All adults received their booster jab. Two within the last week. Two o the kids are vaccinated, one other had COVID-19 in October.
I am still very, very anxious about this.
