New cases in Canada have gone from middling numbers about a week ago to absolutely insane.
I sincerely hope that represents a huge data dump and not the true escalation. If the latter, oh holy shitâŚ
Itâs the latter unfortunately, at least by our numbers:
And theyâre warning that the testing numbers are lagging well behind the actual cases.
VA reported over 6400 cases yesterday, the biggest spike since a probably anomalous 9400 isolated spike last winter. Yeah, itâs pretty consistent. Damn. DamnâŚ
Some of the places processing the tests are overloaded, and having to prioritize between covid tests and stuff like cancer screening ones.
IANAL, but why do you need a new law to tackle it specifically?
Donât you already have laws that criminalize document forgery and falsification that could be used to prosecute those who are producing and using false vaccination cards and use the pandemic as an aggravating factor (not sure what is the correct law term)?
Can confirm.
Tests wonât be returned for two days at the moment. Theyâve stopped vaccinating for the weekend so I think a little bit of extra testing capacity has opened up but not lab slots.
So my local Facebook group who wonât wear masks or get vaccinated are all desperately trying to find tests. Most of our local stores are out.
It is amusing that all of a sudden they need to find tests for the common cold (their words). I wonder what they are all afraid of all of a sudden.
Fraud statutes might have some element such as intent to profit that could be arguable with vaccine cards. Or not, but thatâs possible.
I sincerely hope that represents a huge data dump
9,571 cases today, 66/100k in Ontario alone. Rates for vaccinated vs unvaccinated individuals are the same. Edit: so no, itâs the actual curve.

Over the past two weeks, we attended two house parties of 30+ people where we were only two of four masked (with N95s) and the only ones masked, respectively.
On Tuesday, we were notified that the host of the second party had contracted covid. Rapid tests had sold out across the entire county, so we secured a pair of the last PCR drive-ups available the next morning. Today, we just got our tests back, both negative, while reports are coming in of many others in attendance infected.
Unfortunately, we learned today that one of them was my husbandâs boss who he interacted with at work on Tuesday, so weâre back to chasing PCR tests and the holiday weekendâs social activities are ruined, although weâre expecting to still be negative because he was masked.
Bottom line: N95s demonstratively work and tests are nearly impossible to find. Wear masks religiously at any gathering and public setting until this shitshow has substantially eased.
Be aware that PCR tests are unreliable in the first 5 days post exposure, and antigen detection tests even less so. We wonât even test folks until their 5th day.
Yes, we were 5 days out from the first exposure when tested, and Iâve got a PCR scheduled for Sunday - five days out from the second exposure.
I hate to be that guy, but while youâre right about masking up, what you described was dodging bullets, not the awesomeness of N95 masks.
Not purely related to covid, of course.
Q forgot to mention the tests also contain 5G microchips just like the vaccines
I have to agree. Our neighbor invited us and many of the neighbors on our street to a Christmas Eve gathering. This was after Omicron first hit. We were a hard no, but many neighbors originally said yes. One household who is equally paranoid about Covid gave it a few days and finally said sorry, no. (We all wear masks when we talk to each other.)
Then all the other neighbors asked about vaccine status of the attendees. The host admitted that she and her adult daughter had just the one dose of J&J (the host is a teacher in CA and got her dose way back when it was first released). Apparently, the daughter got very sick from her J&J vaccine, so she and mom are foregoing any boosters.
Boom. All of the rest of my neighbors have decided that they arenât going. Whew. Our neighborhood just avoided a CF.
Daaammn.
I was trawling the net for updated info on neurological effects of COVID-19 (as you do on Eve at my place) and hit on a running up-to-date bibliographic/survey article service from Kluwer.
