Easy, the antivaxxers are scarier. We have a vaccine for covid, we have therapies for covid, and we have very efficient immune systems that will, eventually, adapt. None of that works for the death ghoul cult that lives to see other people die. I will fight the virus to the end. I have honestly given up on retrieving antivaxxers from their hole.

ETA: Preview that the one box can’t generate for some reason.

With the start of the provincewide curfew on Friday and most stores shuttered on Sunday, New Year’s weekend came and went quietly in Quebec.

The restrictions announced by the province ahead of the weekend — aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 — forced many Quebecers to cancel celebrations and spend their evenings at home. Most appeared to do just that, save for a few dozen who gathered outside of Premier François Legault’s office to protest against the curfew on Saturday .

“There has been some concern about why we don’t ask people at that five-day period to get tested. That is something that is now under consideration,” Fauci said. “The CDC is very well aware that there has been some pushback about that. Looking at it again, there may be an option in that, that testing could be a part of that, and I think we’re going to be hearing more about that in the next day or so from the CDC.”

And I fear this may be an optimistic take. I could see some areas keeping schools open with increasingly inadequate staff, and applying pressure to staff so that they are more likely to come in while still sick.

If basically everybody who is unvaccinated is about to all get sick at once, then how long will they stay sick?

Will this madness be in the past by February, or will it go on and on and on?

Problem is, even the vaccinated are getting sick, although not as seriously (for the most part). Stay home, if you can.

Just got my booster this afternoon. Settling in for the wild ride now.

“ Davison said the increase in deaths represents “huge, huge numbers,” and that’s it’s not elderly people who are dying, but “primarily working-age people 18 to 64” who are the employees of companies that have group life insurance plans through OneAmerica.

“And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic,” he said.

“Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.”

Keep in mind that all he’s seeing is people of working age by definition — those whom his company insures — and now wonder what the overage is for elderly people, really.

You know what just occurred to me?

The census needs to be redone because of all the problems with how it was mismanaged, and also how it was affected by being done during a pandemic prior to vaccines.

If they do the census again in 2022, a lot of red states are going to lose federal representation. Gerrymandering and voting restrictions can’t fix that.
