Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 4)

Police said the passenger, who was not arrested, is a woman in her 40s,

Outcomes like this are why this continues to happen. There should be penalties high enough to discourage others from repeating these stunts, but they’re not even bothering to arrest them.

News to me, and maddening:

Can’t wait for the song about this.

“ In January of last year, the FAA announced a “zero tolerance” policy for unruly passenger behavior that skips warnings or counseling and goes directly to penalties, which can include heavy fines and jail time.

It is unclear whether the passenger involved in the incident on AA flight 38 on Wednesday will face enforcement action from the FAA.

The FAA has civil authority to propose fines up to $37,000 per violation for unruly passenger cases. The agency does not have the authority for criminal prosecution.

The agency referred at least 37 cases for which it had initiated enforcement action to the FBI for criminal prosecution review last year.”

That’s a long swim home.

Does travel insurance cover these kind of disruptions? I’m guessing that for many on that flight entire vacations and or business trips were ruined.

WTF?

If I’m reading that right, they’re still stuck on the droplet idea, that sneeze guards and 6 feet will provide protection.

Sure, “We’ve got too many people surviving this. How can we do better?” Fuuuuuuck…

I guess “they” forgot to say the second part, because it’s so obvious.

which they say “generally causes mild disease particularly in fully vaccinated individuals.”

Unless the individual is already sick and in the hospital with some other problem. In that case, you’d really want to avoid dropping another problem on top on them.

Which, if you are currently hospitalized, would seem to decrease that particular population significantly. They have also obviously given up on trying to cohort covid patients to a separate team of HCW to minimize risk of transmission. Overall, looks like throwing up their hands and saying “Fuck it, we’re all gonna die anyway. Might as well get it over with.”

Mom threatens bringing loaded gun to Va. school over mask policy: ‘See y’all on Monday’ | WJLA

This is right up the road from us, we take care of lots of kids from Page. Fun stuff coming…

ETA: She and her husband apparently own a gunshop, so access is not a problem. I sincerely hope she is currently seeing the world through bars, but with the politics in this area, I suspect not. More likely she is being hailed as a hero.

All I can picture is the captain acting like the tv trope dad on a road trip. “Do you want me to turn this plane around?!?” Then actually doing it.
I would be so pissed if I were a fellow passenger.
I agree wholeheartedly with @mr_raccoon - they should sue.

Aaaaand… BOOM. The lawsuits begin.

School districts do not have the authority to impose, at their whim, public health orders for their schoolchildren. That is doubly true when the public health order, in this case, facemasks, creates a barrier to education that far outweighs any speculative benefit…

A quick rewrite and we can cover the MO state AG with a paraphrase of his own words:

Attorneys General do not have the authority to block, at their whim, public health orders for schoolchildren. That is doubly true when the public health order, in this case, facemasks, creates a speculative barrier to education that is far outweighed by the risk of death and disability of both schoolchildren and educators…

A grifter, who sells fake vaccine certificates in Rio, advises journalist to take the vaccine: ‘Why didn’t you take it?’

Even after been caught committing a crime by selling counterfeit vaccination documents in Rio de Janeiro, a money changer insisted on advising journalists to immunize themselves against Covid.

“If you really want to (get a certificate), the right thing to do is taking the vaccine, do you understand? You have to take the vaccine. Why didn’t you get the vaccine?”, asked the man, who was offering the counterfeit document at Quinta da Boa Vista, a park in Rio de Janeiro.
