Cooking (not just dinner)

So because of this medical thing I’m going through I basically have to stick to liquid, no solid for the next week. Also, nothing spicy, not very sour, and very low in fat. And no caffeine.

If I can get three or four more ideas I might be able to cope

I have a blender, juicer , and immersion blender.

Any great ideas, or do I stick with green smoothies with protein powder?

Ugh. That’s super rough.
It’s the low fat, really, that causes trouble.
Miso? Like, lots of miso…
And, as you’ve mentioned, smoothies. Though, I’d not feel overly compelled to stick with “green.”
Oh!
Ah-ha! Can you find some Peanut Powder? It’s, like, powdered peanuts. But- and I’m not sure of the weird science behind it- there’s very little fat. 85% less, according to the package I’ve got in front of me. But it’s got good amounts of protein and fiber, and, you know, tastes like peanuts. In fact, the only ingredient on the package is “Roasted Peanuts.”
I’d be lobbing some of that into smoothies. And add some cocoa powder (like you’d use for baking…), which also has virtually no fat, and you’ve got something to work with. Unless you’re allergic to peanuts.
But- miso. Definitely miso.

Excellent idea! A few scallions here and there won’t hurt… Time to make more Dashi…

Great!
Would you be able to get away with grinding up some dried shiitake mushrooms and putting the powder in? Cause that would be awesome, too… if you go that route, though, you’ll only need a little- the huge surface area that results from grinding means you get a lot of flavor out of very little mushroom.

Miso soup is an obvious choice.

Are pasta & veg which have been cooked thoroughly and then run through the immersion blender acceptable? Because then any soup recipe will work. Although maybe don’t try that with French onion soup!

Just a warning: the peanut powder available at Costco has SUGAR as its main ingredient. So be sure to read the packaging before picking it up!

Good call.
The stuff I’ve got is (cringe) Jiff brand- and it has one ingredient.
Though peanut butter, in general, is a dumping ground of sorts. There’s no reason to have anything in PB besides peanuts (and, if you’re feeling frisky, a bit of salt). I’m constantly amazed by the junk that is often included. Gross.

Guess who just snagged a oz bag of kombu for $20?

At whole paycheck they want $8 for 3oz.

lowfat versions of: zucchini bisque, carrot or butternut soup, potato leek soup, miso/dashi broths, mashed potatoes, mashed cauliflower, apple sauce, yogurts.

this may seem like i joke but i assure you it is not…lookup some foodie mom homemade gourmet baby food blogs! They make all sorts of “gourmet” liquefied foods!

I made mushroom spinach soup, with milk, summer squash and shallots, for my mom when she needed liquid meals. Immersion blender made it creamy and velvety without much fat. It’s good unblended too.

Blended winter squash soup with apples and onions is nice too. Can be fat free if you have a good flavorful stock. With a dollop of plain yogurt… Mmmm

I hope you have a good outcome.
