Hmm, assaulting civilians who are trying to race into danger to save loved ones…seems like this officer might be able to make a lateral move to Uvalde if her current department doesn’t want her anymore.

Surprised the Fox headline wasn’t “Woman’s face collides with officer’s fist while her family’s home was burning”

It was an officer-involved punching.

… searching for examples of cops doing similar things produces lots of results, but many may be off topic because they’re so much worse

FOX11 news is local news and so covers associated events differently.

That wasn’t really what people were getting at - the linked article and headline just happened to be from a Fox affiliate. The habit of euphemistically describing assault and homicide carried out by police officers as if they were passive bystanders instead of active participants is not unique to Fox. It’s a form of access reporting - news outlets often use the words police would like them to use because they don’t want to incur the public wrath of police or have their access cut off. News outlets are even trained to do this - the cops don’t even need to ask. Although in this case I wouldn’t be surprised if the local affiliate received a call asking them to adjust the phrasing.

They say meaningless gibberish like this in the face of obvious injustice, and yet they are completely baffled and offended as to why people hate cops.
