If they were charged with coup d’état (or terrorism), they cannot post bail and will have to wait for trial in jail.

Although Marx “first as a tragedy then as a farce” already explains it very well, a brazilan cannot fail to notice that ours proudly incorporated a bull horn and made the association of bolsonarista with cattle (a term often used to describe/mock them) very direct.

It seems that even without direct evidence of him giving orders to his followers, brazilian and american authorities already want to extraditate/expel him from florida.

Although he is guilty of at least of inciting his followers before, his attitudes after losing the election, and then eventually abandoning his followers, showed that he was afraid to be arrested if he stayed in brazil, and moderated his discourse, some of his followers even complained that they were abandoned by him.
I guess that someone told him that it was a foolish path to follow and that if he continued his hateful remarks, he would be arrested very soon.
But, he was always just a pawn and it is more likely that his sons are coordinating this coup more than him (as it was during his government) and/or the rest of fascists that enabled him.

It must also be noticed that the fascism and anti-democratic demonstrations are not his only crimes, and it was more likely that he would be arrested because of corruption than by that, because it is easier to prove and less gray juridically and politically.
He imposed a 100 year confidentiality in several processes, including his lavish spending using presidential funds, which Lula promised and canceled when he became president.

From the BBC liveblog:

Old photo of Brazilian ‘QAnon Shaman’ goes viral

Shayan Sardarizadeh

Disinformation expert at BBC Monitoring

Old images of a Brazilian man wearing a costume similar to US Capitol rioter Jacob Chansley, also known as “the QAnon Shaman”, are being shared online to indicate they were from yesterday’s riot in Brasília.

The images have racked up millions of views on Twitter and other platforms.

But the pictures, showing a man wearing horns and a bearskin head-dress with a Brazilian flag painted on his face, are from a rally by Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters in Sao Paulo in September 2021.

There are currently no images or videos indicating the so-called Brazilian QAnon Shaman’s participated in yesterday’s events.

Chansley, a follower of the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory, became one of the most recognisable figures from the Capitol siege and was sentenced to 41 months in prison.

During breaking news situations, it is easy to be drawn in by social media posts specifically designed to maximise engagement.

But a quick check with freely available tools, such as a reverse image search, could prevent the spread of misleading information.

Duly noted. And my wife wrote a book on misinformation!

It’s scary how easy it is.

Arrested them? On the same day as the insurrection? Can they do that?
