Covers Thread: Pop Songs Redux

My life is better for knowing this exists

Maiyaā€™s voice is beautiful and the arrangement really makes this song.

Yeah- Of ALL the coversā€¦ This one isnā€™t even a Dylan song any more. Itā€™s a Hendrix song.

Even Dylan himself has pretty much said so.

And the thing is, if you watch the video, you can tell.

Iā€™ve been totally grooving on Leo Moracchioli lately-

They nuked my Uzeb link, the motherf***ers! But you canā€™t keep a good tune down:

Iā€™m still not fond of Joniā€™s voice, but look at the lineup:

Iā€™m so glad I clicked on the Adele cover you linked (I like Adele but have a hard time with a lot of recent Metal). Leoā€™s cover was amazing. Total shivers down my spine on the last note (where he puts the guitar down).

Thanks for sharing his music.

Because there just arenā€™t enough power ballads anymore:

Iā€™ve never been happy with the foo fighters recordings:

I love this cover because it gives me chills hearing this guy do a spot on Cobain.

Iā€™m normally a big Divinyls fan, but the Pretenders win this one by a mile. I could happily listen to Chrissie Hynde sing the dictionary.

Iron & Wine, Love Vigilantes.

Better becauseā€¦holy shit, New Order did this originally? Weirdā€¦

You . . . are younger than I

Thatā€™s a nice cover; I like it.

Iā€™m trying to imagine it with a dance beat and bouncing munchkin-turtle video clip.

Edit to add: more seriously, when I first heard the Iron & Wine version, I googled the song because I thought it was a Civil War traditional and was interested in hearing the ā€œoriginalā€ fiddle and banjo version. New Order was a surprise.

Ben Folds doing Keshaā€™s Sleezy. I was gonna post his Such Great Heights cover but this one is better

Better than Rod Stewart.

Because itā€™s nothing like Rod Stewart and full of lunacy and Betteridgeā€™s Law.

Plenty.

But I only came across this one recently and the whole Hybrid Kids album is full of weird 70s mashups.

ETA: And the vibe of it, being made by (presumably) a happy mutant and a 4 track is pretty Boingy.

So Iā€™ll leave a link for more info:
