Critics upset at Jordan Peterson book blurbs cunningly posing criticism as praise

I think we’re talking about two different people. One is a troubled trumpter, and the other is a talented jazz musician.

I mean, Celine’s gotta be in there somewhere too, right?

Oh, sure. Probably below Bryan Adams, Randy Bachman, Geddy Lee, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Paul Anka, and Paul Shafer, but well ahead of Bieber.

Is Peterson still nominally an academic, a position where this sort of honesty-in-citation is a definite no, or did he fully back burner that in favor of really lowbrow public intellectual at some point?

As a trading standards thing I suspect that misleading dust jacket puff won’t go very far; but deliberately citing things to appear to mean the opposite of what they say is not an impressive academic honesty move.

He’s a professor emeritus, now, so he’s retired. He’s full time being a shithead.

His academic career was an attempt to get one of those verified personality tests (Myers Briggs, Voigt Kampf whatever, that kind of thing) as a long term grift as far as I can tell.

They are deeply problematic and a lot of people should take a long hard look at themselves.

And Robbie Robertson somewhere near the top.

Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, and Gord Downey too, while I’m at it.

ETA: Lol, should’ve read on before posting.

Somehow we all missed Anne Murray.

I absolutely love Northern Cree’s music.

And I was very lucky to attend a David Suzuki lecture back in the 1980s, as a schoolkid. He made a huge impression on me and I have been “off” fossil fuel ever since.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker didn’t! An explicit (in both senses of the word) shoutout in “Blame Canada” is a pretty cool pop culture accolade.
