Dada vs Hitler: the anti-Nazi collages of John Heartfield

Article turned out to be way more interesting than the one on anti-Nazi colleges that I thought it was going to be.

This really is fascinating. It's a shame that in all the reading I've done about 20th century art, particularly Dadaism and Surrealism, I've never heard of Heartfield before. I have heard of Grosz, of course, and I'm familiar with a lot of his work--particularly his hilarious "Fit For Active Service" (below). And yet Grosz is one of those artists I've felt like I should get around to reading more about. Maybe if I had I would have heard about Heartfield sooner.
