Speaking of the UK, Holy Island (Lindisfarne) stopped being even slightly subtle about checking the tides before using the causeway several stranded vehicles ago:


Not pictured (sadly) is the sign in the village itself carefully explaining that all the rescue staff are part-time volunteers, so they have to drop everything to rescue you and thus you severely piss them off when you try to drown yourself on the way back to the mainland.
