David Bowie
Bowie was one of the first sci-fi musicians, and by far the most successful
The only others I can think of that are household names are Sun Ra and Devo
I remember seeing him touring with his Tin Machine project, playing a little club where he was just a few feet away from me. He was the opposite of a fantasy, working hard as hell just so a few random schlubs could have a good time. I have huge respect for people who make hard work look easy from a distance.
George Clinton/P-Funk.
Really wish I could have caught one of his performances. In the world of music there are musicians, performers, and entertainers. It’s a true treat when a musician can entertain while performing on stage and be able to connect with a crowd in a way that brings the crowd into the performance be it on a small stage at a dive bar or on the field of massive auditorium with thousands of fans. Bowie was definitely one of those musician/performer/entertainers in my book.
