Dead Celebrity (Part 1)

Definitely feeling this one. No other actor (live or voice) has been pitch perfect as both Bats and Bruce.

Aw.

Did he go out with a bang?

(Too soon I know, but I have a feeling he wouldnā€™t have disapproved.)

And here I was going to comment in another thread about AFU soldiers carrying watermelons, who better watch out for Gallagher.

I guess I know what rabbit hole Iā€™m going down this afternoon.

ETA: I didnā€™t know about this side of him:

Dear Lord, I hadnā€™t heard about that side of Gallagher either. Yikes.

I think the last time most people thought about him was when Paul F. Tompkins had a cameo playing him in the Weird Al movie.

This reminds me of another sometimes cranky dude. Someone on a talk show (Iā€™m think it was a woman) told a story of when they were a child and they had the ā€œgood fortuneā€ of sitting next to Gallagher on a flight. Talked Gallagherā€™s ear off about his comedy and watermelons the entire flight. Apparently, he was incredibly patient and very nice. However, they also noticed that his wife was trying hard not to laugh the entire time.

It was David Crosby. I bet Gallagher would have been rude to them.

Okay this local to Detroit but Millerā€™s Bar made almost every list of best burgers in the country.

Iā€™ve been going there since I was in high school, close to 45 years and itā€™s been in business since 1941. What made it so special is there were no menus, it was with or without cheese, french fries or onion rings. Burgers served on a piece of wax paper and never a written bill.

It was the honor system, you just went up to the bartender and told him what you had.

Iā€™ve been in there when the governor came in for lunch, you never knew who you would see when you were having lunch or dinner.

He was a celebrity in these parts.

The wife of 50 years of James JY Young has passed away.

Sheā€™s not a celebrity but a rock and roll marriage of 50 years is something.

In this article James Young says Styx first hit has written for her the year they were married.

I hope he was met with a hearty handshake and a ā€œHello, old chum!ā€ by one of his predecessors, Adam West, just before they sat down to watch a rerun of ā€œBeware the Gray Ghostā€.

I have mixed feelings. Anyoneā€™s death is a tragedy for those close to them. But for those us outside the splashzone who paid attention to who he showed himself to be later in lifeā€¦

EDITED: Changed link from the CNN link that avoided controversy to one that at least mentions he turned out the be a racist and homophobic POS
