I did find an image on one article, but so far no video (though I only looked on the youtubes).
I had forgotten how obsessed everyone was in the mid-80s with trying to prove that wrasslin’ was fake… I don’t watch it much now, but I think it’s kind of great how they really lean into the fakeness/dramatic aspects of the sport now. Kayfabe 4 life!
It also seems like there is a great deal of independent wrasslin’ springing up around the country, which is great, since the WWE had had such a monopoly for so long… There is a local one not far from me that I’m thinking of checking out sometime, that leans into the diversity of this area (the tag line is something like “wrestlers that look like you” or some such). Might be fun to go and see what is the what… It’s been years since I’ve been to a wrasslin’ event (like, since I was a kid, so decades now!).
