I’m so sorry to hear this: Bill Buckner took flak for the fielding error that contributed to my '86 NY Mets WS championship. Even during signings and such, he (and Mookie Wilson) for a long time were asked about the error (which I thought to be a tough one since the ball – quite oddly – stayed way down, scooting beneath his glove rightly positioned for a hop). Bill took the questions in stride. He and Mookie agreed that “what happened was baseball”.
Apparently The author Edmund Morris has died. He is a bit notorious for writing the Ronald Reagan biography “Dutch”, but I love his books on Theodore Roosevelt. “The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt” especially is great (maybe just because those were the most fascinating years of Roosevelt’s life)
Damn it, damn it, damn it…
Balls.
Crap.
Not sure how many people remember the movie:
Oh, yeah. It was an innocent time. When we thought Alan Dershowitz had integrity.
One of Arsenal’s 2003-4 invincibles.
Sad. He broke free and spoke out against his father.
“He did not allow Roy to grow up with his siblings, and he kept him hidden in houses of hiding most of his growing up life, telling the family that Roy was a bad boy and tried to turn us against him,” Rachel told the outlet.
That’s messed up.
Dr John passed today.
New Orleans has less a soul tonight.
Oh man. I have a big sad now.
Leon Redbone was in Candy Mountain (1988) (and briefly sings & plays). I had not seen this since it was new:
@anon48584343, @TobinL:The late Dr. John was in it, too.
He’d just got the O’s back into the EFL (professional leagues) as champions too
Damn. I mean it’s not surprising, when it was announced a few weeks ago that he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer, that was pretty much a death sentence. (Despite the One Box text from when there was some confusion earlier, his publicist has confirmed it.)
I had no idea she was still around! 95 is definitely a “win”.
The guy who wrote TNG “The Inner Light” and DS9 “In the Pale Moonlight” died…
If you’ve never seen either of those episodes, you should do so. Both are excellent.
The final monologue from “In the Pale Moonlight” is here:
