Both sides of my family are bi-racial, so it sounds easy, yes? Except that they both identify as white. So - what is “white” again? At least they like to think of themselves as being fairly open-minded. They aren’t especially race or sex bigoted, but they often have closed/conservative positions upon other social issues, and they are rather classist.

Basically, they know that if they were going to discuss politics or social issues with me, they would be screaming and crying over even the first 5% of my world view. Like many people, they seem to lack the maturity to discuss social issues with those who they don’t relate to. So they find nearly everything about my POV scary and confrontational.
