Delta didn’t force them to spend the night on the plane? Amazing.

But did they have to turn out for roll call at 6am?

I know that base. I saw the movie Paul there well over a decade ago. Hopefully the barracks are heated. It’s not warm there this time of year.

Happy Valley Bay in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

I guess that the pilot was ecstatic to find a place to land.

The town is Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and the flight landed at Goose Bay Airport. As @HaroldHill hints, it was one of the airports that hosted US flights when US airspace was closed immediately after 9/11.

The airport was built during WW2 as a refuelling stop for the Canada-Greenland-Iceland-UK air ferry sending warplanes to Britain.
