Meanwhile, a buddy here in YVR had a flight (WestJet, I think?) cancelled, so he had to fly to Victoria, change planes to Edmonton, stay overnight in Edmonton, and then fly to Ottawa the next day. Because of the relatively-new Passenger Bill of Rights, all of the accommodation, food, and incidentals were covered, AND he got $1000 in compensation. Canadian, but still!

Turns out holding corporate feet to the fire can be done, without “ruining” businesses, with some judicious government intervention.
