Denim chaps

Probably NSFW for anyone still working in an office or remoted into corp hardware.

Do I have to rein you in?

The loose threads are a big fat welcome mat for some serious, cat-pawing action. Very dangerous for exposed legs!

They’re not assless; they’re bidet friendly.

This is the type of garment that Bizzaro-World Tobias Fünke would wear.

Chaps for actual horseback riding are usually suede. Protecting the rider’s legs when riding thru brush, etc plus providing extra grip are chaps’ original raison d’etre, and suede does both well. The suede ones can be as plain & practical (for work - with a sort of cargo pocket even!) or as fancy (for shows) as you like.

Smooth leather ones are lots more expensive. Western riders wear those for shows, not work.

Many English riders also wear chaps, but only when schooling (training/exercising horses or during lessons) or hacking (riding outside an arena/riding ring); never for shows or formal hunting.

When we were still riding, lots of the young girls wore denim shorts under their chaps when it was hot. I just knew that had I tried that, I’d’ve wound up with rashes where the shorts and chaps um parted ways, if I didn’t die of heatstroke first.

I’ve also seen fabric chaps - thin waterproof ones, thick ones for winter, even fancy ultrasuede for western shows. Think I’ve seen canvas ones before, but not denim. XD

And yes! All Chaps Are Assless!

Nah, leather chaps are for protecting denim jeans from brush while riding, or thicker chaps to protect the tops of legs (again denim) from hay abrasion while moving bales etc…

Sadly you actually do need them if you’re doing either of those things. And yeah, they’re all assless. And yeah, I still have my leather chaps from the most underpaid and worst summer college job ever…

Cool! Thanks, @Bobo! I wore them riding English saddle and there, they definitely were for getting a grip.
