This playing-since-D1-beta Guardian hopes Bungie decides to let him go out in a blaze of glory in a 1v1 versus The Witness. Recasting the role after the lines are used would be in INCREDIBLY poor taste.

There is now a statue to him in the Courtyard of the Tower so my guess is Cayde is staying dead. Although some of the data miners claim to have found evidence that he’s coming back as a “spirit guide” like thing later on…but I am thinking that’s wishful thinking. Nolan’s recast was horribly received and Fillion is still staring in The Rookie so looks like he’s not interested in coming back.
Which is a shame my daughter didn’t start playing until AFTER Forsaken but she still loves that old pile of circuits.
He was the draw in the early days. I think I left shortly after.
