What makes you think people from Racine are clueless and ignorant? Don’t you think my second cousins would be offended by such presuppositions? Did you not know that half my family is from the only place in the US a person can get good kringle?
Because they grew up eating floorwax like it was a dessert topping? (but doesn’t it have a nice art museum, though?!?)
Did you know that Trader Joe’s is now carrying “authentic” Wisconsin kringle?
Should I try it?
Did you know we have two cheese hats and one cheese beer holder?
And did you know we have a terrible time when the Bears play the Packers?
Well, maybe not really that much difficulty, right? I mean, come ON, it’s the Packers, right?
Is there anything keeping you from trying it? Then again, do you have a basis for comparison? I suppose you wouldn’t have to travel very far to get a basis of comparison, though, would you? (You are in Chicago, no?)
Funny enough, I don’t like handegg much, but there’s something in the water in Wisconsin that makes you a Packers fan, no matter what - how weird is that? Nonetheless, as I result, when the Packers play the Vikings, did you know it’s never been a question as to who I’d prefer to lose?
Wha?
(Post must be at least 6 characters? Wha?)
Did you know that my mother’s family was the first to head south to the States, and only made it as far as north of Green Bay (near the Menominee reservation)?
Did you know I have a copy of the cookbook put out by the Women’s Guild in my grandmother’s town, in which all the salads are made with Jello? Would there be a kringle recipe (or two) in that cookbook? And is it too complicated to be bothered making, since many good Wisconsin bakeries do it much better than I ever could?
Good grief - could you know that second cousins of mine work there ferealzies?
No, but why did I never remember to get a tour when I visited town whilst my sister was living in OshKosh and my parents exhibited in a gallery downtown?
Did you know there’s a Danish bakery within walking distance of us that sells kringle?
I guess that half of my family fared better by making all the way down to Racine from Canukistan to join the other Danes there?
Oy, what was the obsession with everything in all the jello? Post-war scarcity?
Should I have kept the two cookbooks that my gramma’s eastern Wisconsin women’s guild made (that she then sent to my mom)?
Do you know how lucky and/or cursed you are?
Whoa? Who else here was born in Wisconsin or have recent lineage from Wisconsin?
Don’t you enjoy laughing, and feeling superior to all your ancestors?
How does your waist size survive that?
What are the odds on this place being populated by former cheeseheads?
Everyone in the country loves the Packers, don’t they? Aren’t they everyone’s second (or first) team?
Weren’t my Packers supporting coworkers very upset by the ending of the championship game, and then very amused by the ending of the superb owl?
