Having been an usher/ticket taker at the Pi Alley theater in Boston I’d like to share the little known fact that movie screens are not the blank sheets that most people think they are. They are full of little holes from edge to edge that would allow staff to stand behind the screen and watch the audience.
Being from the UK, the idea that CCTV is watching me everywhere whenever I leave my house isn’t disturbing anymore. The TV series Spooks is responsible for that, in part. It was impossible to miss that cameras are everywhere, but the idea that people are watching the footage was so often a plot point that it just became commonplace. I mean, not only do I not have anything to hide, I have all the privilege. What do I have to fear? It’s not like the government is corrupt and sliding into fascism, now, is it?
