Do Democrats also promote Candidates that will work against voter's interests?

A friend’s kid got that for his 17th birthday last year; ‘Gen Z’ is alright.

You’re kidding- that’s a pretty generic political phrase. I for one would be quite happy if Joe started saying Medicare for All.

If you’re worried about your guy losing more than what policies get enacted you’re part of a personality cult.

Everyone who loses hopes the winner adopts some of your policies- because it’s not me - it’s us.

I wonder about such questions as well.

I certainly believe that objectively the Democrats are less bad.

But how do we definitively quantify that in a way that centrists and other even-handed individuals can see the unbaised view of the situation?

It seems actually very difficult to produce such evidence in the current media ecosystem.

I think when Democrats serve high dollar donors instead of their constituency that they are guilty of this, plain and simple. Clinton(s) were way guilty of this, and Biden clearly is as well. Its not enough for Dems to be less bad - they have to walk the talk.

If we don’t stand up and demand better behavior one thing is for sure - it will never change.

We have yet to see a retraction of this in words or deeds.

Out here most of the Democrat superdelegates are DINOs. Solid South.

You met them all, huh?

So… what it IS it you want people to do since we only have two choices; the Stage 4 Cancer that currently inhabits the WH, or the Slow Pneumonia running against him.

Right now, there is no other option between bad and utterly fucking horrible; unless it’s just not voting at all, and as a Black woman in this country that’s never a viable option for me.

So again… what is it that you want?

Realistically.

Because there is no time machine, no going back in time, no magic device that will give you the ideal candidate that you would personally prefer.

These are the shit choices we have, and you lashing out at members of this community like someone kicked your puppy won’t change that, it will only ostracize you as yet another rabid zealot should you choose to keep it up.

If they weren’t the progressives in the party wouldn’t be begging me for money.

Because progressives can run campaigns on good will and air? Until we completely transform our political systems, money will be a key factor in winning. It’s not right or helpful, or especially not moral. But that doesn’t mean every single member of the Democratic party is a shill or DINO.

Almost every Sanders supporter was arguing that only Sanders could beat Trump and the other candidate would lose right here - and everywhere else.

Probably you were making those claims - most supporters think their candidate is the only one who can win!!!

Or just make the argument even if they don’t actually believe it.

Bernie Sanders is not going to bring his version of “Democratic Socialism” to America

He’s had two chances now, it was a nice idea, but it’s not going to happen

Sanders supporters need to think about what they did and why they failed, just like we’ll expect Biden supporters to do next year if centrism snatches defeat from the jaws of victory again in November

There is a bigger issue here, IMHO. Sanders failed miserably with Black voters. I have no guesses as to why, but I don’t believe they were tricked or scared into it. You cannot be the Democratic nominee if you cannot get the Black vote.

Socialists who are trying to win the Democratic presidential nomination should maybe not treat “the Black vote” as a monolithic thing they can “get” with some simple formula.

African Americans vote Democratic at higher rates than anybody else, and so, given that basically the entire Black population is inside the Party, there is going to be enormous ideological and cultural diversity within that “Black vote” and several different “votes” in there that have to be won separately.

Why would we expect them to do that - centrist dems certainly did not after clinton lost.

Well the whole system is certainly broken and not rewarding sensible behavior

Within the system as it is, the Democratic Party is just doing its thing, raising money to get elected and then governing to raise money, I hope we all knew that already

I did not enter this discussion asking anybody TO DO anything, or WANTING anything.

I opened it by saying that Democrats misrepresent to constituents to gain their votes, while going on to enact policies against their interest at a rate at least equal to Republicans.

And I believe the flock to Biden is a perfect example of it. It was done by lying about Sanders prospects against Trump, generating fear among democratic voters.

All the rest of the items on discussion here were raised by others.

Right - so the test could be, if trump has shot himself in the foot and dragged down the republican senate enough to loose the senate majority - the test is when the Dems have both houses and the exec, will they actually fix campaign finance? Or will they revel in the bath of dollars that come their way for being in charge?

My guess is: “Nothing would fundamentally change”

Why? because that was the campaign promise.

If you do nothing else as a citizen with regard to this, at least realize when you’ve been had.
