Indeed? I realise that the Sufis are not popular in some parts of Islam, but the Catholic Church has a long and well established mystical wing with several different branches. What organised religion seeks to do is to control and organise mysticism - and given the harm caused by charismatic mystics they do have a point.

Personally, I have Zen Buddhist leanings and Zen is totally against mysticism - its command is to “just be ordinary”, which is actually quite a hard task.
