While I generally wouldn’t think highly of Dolly Parton’s neutral stance (is that really an admirable position when one side are literally Nazis?), she’s stood up a few times when it mattered, such as speaking out in support of Black Lives Matter, and yet conservatives don’t hate her like they do that dastardly Big Bird or the villainous Mr. Rogers, so maybe she’s doing something to win a small handful of them over to the side of basic human decency. If someone so universally beloved and famously non-political takes a rare stand, maybe that helps get across the message that some stances (such as “Black people are human beings”) shouldn’t be a matter of politics at all.
