Don Jr’s knowledge of Russian history is also not accurate

(For the pedants, yes – I know Nosferatu refused the food and drink)

I don’t know. He’s such a sweaty fear-riddled weasel and (as he must know by now) hated by so many, I’d think he’d stock a few gallons of some medicine to induce vomiting, just in case something nasty was handed to him.

That is completely bonkers.

I’d be surprised if Donny JR’s knowledge of what he had for breakfast was accurate, let alone knowledge of Russia.

There were two 1917 revolutions in Russia, the Febuary revolution on 8-16th March deposed the Romanovs and the October Revolution on 7th November was the Bolsheviks taking power.

It’s also important to remember how many factions were involved. There were the Social Democrats (who were not like todays social democrats), the Right Socialist-Revolutionaries, the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries, the Jewish Labour Bund, the Mensheviks, the Bolsheviks and the anarchists, all with different views on how to achieve socialism, and that is just the left. The Bolsheviks didn’t really consolidate power until after the Russian Civil War.

But you are right, the original intention was that Nicholas II would abdicate and hand power to his brother the Grand Duke Michael, but Michael refused unless the Constituent Assembly approved it. They did not.

There were also concerns that the White Army would free them, although that could be after-the-fact justification.

I would also recommend Mike Duncans Revolutions podcast, although the Russian Revolutions series is over 3 days of constant listening, and refers back to the Paris Commune Series, which refers back to the European Revolutions of 1848 series, and so on.

That … sounds like bliss, actually.

The most evil person is the person that can listen to that idiocy and not flinch. Or maybe Mr. Kirk is dumb enough to know pop history.

Well, rewriting history to your own needs? Who does that remind me of …?
