It’d be nice if someone earned that horror state from time to time.
I understand that many people support HRC, and probably feel that they have good reasons to do so. I accept that. My views about her go back to when the Clinton’s were Arkansas politicians. I have also been reading the leaked documents from the DNC, including their analysis of ethical issues with the Clinton foundation and it’s subsidiaries. It is my reasoned belief that HRC is very likely the most corrupt politician in the history of the USA. I mean, we can talk about Huey Long, or Nixon, but the sheer amount of money, especially from sources hostile to the US, and supporting positions counter to the best interests of the country, put her right up there with Mobuto Sese Seko.
But if she gets elected, and turns out to be a real patriot and honest public servant, I will happily admit to being completely wrong.
Is it a “reasoned” belief or an emotional one?
Because that’s a cartoonishly overbroad statement. She’s a corporate friendly candidate but hardly the most corrupt in history, not even the only one running for office.
Is this another item spontaneously generated from your “unique perspective”? Because its indistinguishable from the bloviation on right wing talk radio.
That’s a deluded, false and conclusory claim.
What reasons are there to conclude that HRC ever did anything as remotely awful as other politicians?
She hasn’t ordered secret bombing raids in Cambodia, stolen files from a psychiatrist, burglarized political opponents, committed war crimes against native people, apologized for Jim Crow laws, traded arms for hostages, block granted community mental health services, or a long list of other horrors covered in most community college U.S. history courses.
After I wrote that, I remembered that Trump had said something similar. I regret having made a remark that might give the appearance that I support him. Ok, I will step back from calling her the most corrupt in history. I have no doubt that Trump is also fabulously corrupt, but he has only been in politics a short time.
I hope that I am wrong about HRC. I understand “corporate friendly”, which would explain deals with US companies. It is the foreign interests that bug me. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Swaziland, Rwanda, Lesotho, PRC, Ukraine, Algeria, Columbia, Venezuela, Egypt, and more. And personal donations and deals with foreign corporations and individuals. Often when those interests had issues before the State Dept, when she was Secretary.Other times, Bill would accept huge donations from foreign countries while HRCs State Dept made decisions in their favor.
If your reasons for supporting her outweigh any ethical questions, vote for her. I am not comfortable doing so.
Concern yourself all you want. I find her an occasionally distasteful corporate candidate but far more nuanced in character than the worst politician ever anywhere devil woman shrill she-beast she is regularly portrayed as. I’d wish for better and voted so but no one else is on the ticket.
Even after the election people can vote with their wallets, at his resorts. Likely more than before all this started.
Might change his behavior.
I agree with your last sentence, and I hope that I had not conveyed the impression that I agree with the right wing misogynist drivel about her. If I could vote for someone like Golda Meir or Ann Richards, I would be ecstatic.
